Gore Mountain Ski Trip February 2009
Some ODDS & ENDS Photos
These photos are a little 'after the fact' but thought you might enjoy them anyway. For Dan's 21st birthday in March we went to The National in Athens, GA (Dan's pick) and had a wonderful evening of food (and drink :) . A martini and free champagne for the birthday boy. :)
I visited my Mom for Mother's Day weekend and we went out for lunch with her best friend, Agnes Dietrich (90+??). We spent the afternoon at Arad Evans (great restaurant) visiting and enjoying some delicious gourmet food.
Alexis' Dance Photos
Alexis has just finished her 5th year of dance at 5-6-7-8 Dance school and danced with the Apprentice Company this year. She takes dance 3 nights a week (8 classes) and really enjoys it. The classes include: ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, production and next year she'd like to include hip hop if she has time.
She has a Christmas program and then 3 competitions in the Spring and a Spring recital at the end of May. These photos were taken by a company who does photography and video at the competitions and then offers the cd's to purchase. The photo of Dan and Lex was taken last Saturday night - May 30th - when we had our picnic dinner in between matinee and evening performances of the Spring recital.

Cape San Blas photos
It was a chilly, extremely windy week which made the waves the largest we've ever seen here. The beaches are probably the most pristeen you'll find in the Eastern United States. The name of the peninsula that Cape San Blas is on is St. Joseph's Peninsula. At the end of the peninsula is St. Joseph's State Park. No souvenir shops, hot dog stands, carnival rides, high-rise hotels here; just untouched sand dunes and beach.
These photos of the large sand dunes and expansive beach were taken at the state park. The beach right outside our cottage was gorgeous and this one was spectacular so we used both of them. As you can see, there was hardly anyone there when we went. I'm sure the summer months are quite crowded. We enjoy the April weather and know that it would be too hot for us in the summer so Spring Break is the time we like to go.

Alexis had her own room w/bunk beds and read lots of books. Of course she loved me taking this photo of her reading. :)
Kevin and Alexis enjoyed finding beautiful shells and I took some long walks on the beach. The first morning I watched dolphins feeding close to shore and one actually jumped all the way out of the water. I had never seen that before and it was really thrilling. That was the only time I saw dolphins; the water was just too rough after that.

Our cottage, below, was called 'On the Beach' and we loved it! Very cozy and cute. Living such a simple life for a week was wonderful; eat, sleep, read, walk on the beach, sunbathe, look for shells, boogie board.....aaaaaahhhhhhh......

here goes.....................
I never thought I'd do this but this co-worker of mine said she finds it a good way to share photos and writing with family and friends. I took a look at hers and loved it so thought I'd give it a try. We'll see if I post to it more than once :) .
This is my practice entry and maybe tomorrow when I have time I'll post some photos from our trip to Cape San Blas last week.
